Pier CPA Group Inc was established in 1994 by Deborah Ewart to provide quality accounting services to Campbell River and the surrounding communities that make up North Vancouver Island. In January 2019, after 25 years as a sole practitioner, Deborah became partners with Andrea Smith, who has been with the firm since 2013. At that time the firm was rebranded as Pier CPA Group Inc.
In August 2022, Andrea became the sole owner of Pier CPA Group but Deborah is still with the firm on a part-time basis for the foreseeable future.
For over two and a half decades we have taken pride in being a small firm that provides personalized service – which works for us and our clients. We consider it a privilege to work with our clients, and we go to great lengths to provide exceptional service. Our focus is small to medium size owner managed businesses, charities, not-for-profit organizations and personal tax. That’s why we structure our services to help take the bookkeeping, accounting and tax planning off your plate. We take pride in understanding each client’s needs and seek to establish long term relationships. We believe that our success is reflected in the success of our clients!
We are honoured to support community development in Campbell River. Andrea and Deborah are active volunteers as well as serve as board members of local organizations. In addition, through Pier CPA Group we are able to provide services at discounted rates and provide financial support to multiple local charitable and non-profit organizations.

Andrea Smith, CPA, CGA, BBA
Andrea was born in raised in Campbell River and returned to her home town in 2013 to work for Deborah Ewart as an accountant. Andrea completed her degree in Business Administration – Accounting Major through North Island College in 2013 and then entered the Certified General Accountant’s designation program. Completing her designation in the spring of 2016 Andrea is a CPA, CGA and loves the diversity working in public accounting affords her as each client has different needs.
Deborah Ewart, CPA, CGA
Deborah was born and raised in Campbell River and raised her two beautiful daughters here as well. Deborah opened the firm in 1994 as a sole practitioner and served clients mainly in Campbell River and Gold River. Over the years Deborah grew the firm by providing dependable, timely and client centered services and advice.
